Born on 17 February 1951, Bhagirath Basnet is former Acting Foreign Secretary of Nepal as well as Former Ambassador of Nepal to Bangladesh. He has served at the Nepalese Embassy in India, Germany, Belgium and China in various diplomatic capacities. He began his career as a Section Officer in the Supreme Court of Nepal and later worked in the Ministry of Law and Justice before working in the Foreign Ministry. He is co-author of a book- The Rise of Communists and Fall of Monarchy in Nepal published by Kathmandu School of Law in 2017. His numerous articles have been published in national and international newspapers and magazines.
Education: Bachelor of Arts (Maryland University,USA) Master’s degree in Economics, Bachelor of Law (Tribhuban University, Kathmandu) and Diploma in International Relations from the Hague (the Netherlands). Married and has one daughter and a son.

Mr. Shrestha holds master’s degrees in political science and economics. He speaks Japanese, French and Spanish besides English, Newari, Nepali and Hindi. He joined Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1983 as section officer and worked in several divisions of the Ministry including United Nations, Chief of Protocol from 2009 to 2010. Served in Bangkok, Tokyo and Abu Dhabi. Appointed Ambassador of Nepal to France and with concurrent accreditation to Greece, Monaco, Portugal and Spain, 2010 - 2014. Received trainings in Tokyo, Addis Ababa, Washington, Casablanca.
Conducted several high-level visits including the President and Prime Minister of Nepal to India as Chief of Protocol. Attended many international seminars and conferences in socio-economic issues including 50th, 51st and 64th UNGA in New York, 10th, 11th and 12th summits of NAM. Decorated with Civil Service Award and Gorkha Dakshin Bahu IV class. Founder President of Centre for Diplomacy and Development. Authored a book on “Kutniti Ma Teen Dashak” (three decades in diplomatic service).

Born on 25 October 1958, Jhabindra Aryal is a retired career Ambassador of Nepal to the Arab Republic of Egypt from 2016-2020 and simultaneously served as non-resident Ambassador of Nepal to Lebanon, Jordan, Ethiopia and Morocco. Prior to this, he served as Chargé d’Affaires e.p. in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. He joined Diplomatic Service in 1988 as Section Officer and worked in various divisions of the Foreign Ministry of Nepal and the Nepalese Embassies abroad in different capacities such as in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Brussels, Belgium, London, the UK in addition to Muscat and Cairo.
Mr. Aryal holds master’s degree in political science, bachelor’s degrees in law and economics from Tribhuvan University of Nepal and a Diploma of Diplomatic Studies from the University of Oxford, UK. He enjoys reading, travelling and social networking. He is married and has one son and two daughters.

He was born in Kathmandu in 1955 and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal in 1986. He is a former Ambassador of Nepal to Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines (2013-2018). He served as First Secretary, Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations, New York (1993-1997). He represented Nepal in the First and Third Committees of UNGA and to NPT Extension Conference in 1995 and CTBT in 1996. He also worked as Consul of Nepal in Hong Kong (2000-2002). He was Charge d’Affaires a. i. at the Nepalese Embassy, France and Acting Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, Paris (2003-2005). He obtained his Ph.D. in International Relations and Diplomacy from the Centre for Diplomatic and Strategic Studies, Paris, France (2008).
His dissertation was entitled “Nuclear Insecurity in South Asia”. He was appointed Director at the SAARC Secretariat, Kathmandu (2009-2012). He served as Chief of Protocol and Head of South Asia Division in 2012. Currently, he is the President of Lumbini Research Centre for Understanding and Peace, Kathmandu and Chairman of the Subject Committee on International Relations and Peace Studies at the Lumbini Buddhist University, Lumbini, Nepal. He also speaks French and Spanish. He has authored two books and writes articles on contemporary issues. He was nominated as a panelist at William and Mary College, Williamsburg, Verginia, USA, to speak for the China Conference in June 2022.

Mr. Prakash Kumar Suvedi is the Executive Director of the Institute of Foreign Affairs. He has served as Nepali Ambassador to Austria, concurrently accredited to Croatia, Greece, and Slovenia, and Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna from 2016 to 2020. During his 34-year-long career in Nepal’s Foreign Service, he served in various Nepali missions abroad and political divisions at the Ministry. He headed the South Asia Division and General Administration Division as Joint Secretary.
Mr. Suvedi has a Master of Arts in Economics from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and a Master of Arts in International Relations from the International University of Japan. Similarly, he holds a Diploma in International Relations from Institut International d’Administration Publique, Paris, France.
